Ha! As a US student who went to school in the 90's and early 2000s, our lunches did NOT look like this! We had cardboard pizza, macaroni and glue, dried hamburgers on stale buns, occasionally a brownie that was already halfway to being hard as a rock, etc!

What you eat for lunch in the United States almost directly correlates with what isd youre part of and the wealth of the tax payers for that specific isd. I went to school where it was pretty much 50% poor and 50% wealthy (not much of a middle class). We had nice things, like dominos pizza and chick fil a at least 2 days out of the week, but the rest of the meals were usually pre cooked, frozen and baked/heated with no other prep, and we had many cases of spoiled milk and apples that were completely mushy. A friend of mine came from a much wealthier district, where the food actually had some hint of care put into the preparation.

En Guatemala muchos niños mueren de hambre. Antes muchos no comían nada. Entonces se han creado algunos programas de dar refacción en las escuelas públicas. Las mamas se turnan para ir a cocinar y servir comida. Aunque la comida usualmente es sencilla, ya les dan algo y hay un producto clásico en Guatemala. Llamado Incaparina es muy común que les den un vaso de atol el más común se llama Incaparina porque antes era parte de un programa para combatir la desnutrición. Y por otra parte los niños que van a colegios privados usualmente si llevan Lunch. La mayoría llevan por lo menos un bocadillo en pan sea sandwich o francés. A partir de allí depende que tan saludable sea la mamá. Y en casa usual se come carne (sea pollo, res, cerdo o pescado) , verduras y algún almidón, refresco y tortillas para acompañar la comida. Si se puede sopa y postre. Pero con la inflación la comlda va disminuyendo.
